MARES

“Paint the mysterious beauty of our seas to raise awareness of its preservation”
“MARES” is a series that highlights my passion for the seas, oceans and my interest in the work of the Montpellier marine biologist photographer, Laurent BALLESTA.
Each of the works presented is an interpretation of his photos which inspired me throughout the creative process: my gaze through his.
They are mainly made in oil and they represent abstract-realistic or even expressionist underwater landscapes with a powerful emphasis on colors.
Through these different paintings I wanted to celebrate the beauty and fragility of the oceans, by exploring a new creative approach “sensualist painting” created by the painter Jean Yves GUIONET and which was introduced to me during an internship by Priscille DEBORAH and Catherine DUCHÊNE. Thanks to this technique I was able to capture and feel the depth, the immensity of the sea. Each work is an invitation to dive into an underwater world filled with life, where bright colors and dynamic textures testify to the diversity marine fauna and flora.
“MARES” aims to immerse spectators in the heart of the marine universe through my emotions.
